How many times you have missed your morning breakfast? Still you are missing your breakfast! Stop it as it is very important for you. Pooja Makhija, a clinical dietician and consulting nutritionist, says, “The most important meal of the day, undoubtedly, is breakfast. The first food intake after a minimum gap of seven-eight hours acts as a fuel to jump-start the body.” According to Pooja, your breakfast habit decides that your body goes into storing or burning mode.

Deepshikha Agarwal, a Delhi based nutritionist, says, “You break your night-long fast with this meal. It provides 25% of the total energy and nutrients required by the body. It will boost your energy levels and concentration.”

It is dangerous to miss your morning breakfast

Pooja states, “No breakfast means a sluggish start to the day. It also makes a person eat larger meals in the course of the day.”

She further says, “Since, the activity level is maximum in the day, whatever you eat for breakfast is burnt well. So,... it can be the biggest meal of the day. In fact, it is the best time for a cheat-meal.”

Best breakfast option

The breakfast options can vary person to person but it should be a good combination of all five pillars of nutrition – carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamin and minerals. For carbohydrates, go with idli, upma, paratha, bread or wheatflakes. Take egg white, curd, milk or sprouts for protein and for fat, take any food that contains visible fat. Don’t forget to include fruits and vegetables in your breakfast as they are rich source of vitamins and minerals.
